Cyber-Security and the Necessity of a Surveillance Proof-Smartphone

Taiga security software is the first ever Russian system which offers full user protection against spyware, malicious software, and data loss.

Over the last few years, there has been an increase in cybercrime in various parts of the globe which has affected so many businesses and also led to the hack of some company website. Citizens have also raised suspicion about different government surveillance that has made it mandatory for all security software to have an installed ‘backdoor’ to benefit their Intelligence Agencies. This backdoor process will make it easy for government intelligence unit to have easy access to personal data and communications. In Russia, there are significant concerns about this development, while the Americans are building cyber arms against the Russian Intelligence. To curb the rate of cybercrime and government spy on people’s personal information and data, Infowatch recently launched a new smartphone that will act as a surveillance-proof device to its users. The phone which is expected to cost around 15,000 Roubles ($260) will be developed by Kaspersky Lab, a prominent cybersecurity company, and manufactured by Taiga a security firm known for their software which offers maximum protection against malicious software, malware, data loss, and spyware. According to Grigoriy Vasilyev, a representative of InfoWatch, the new surveillance-proof smartphone can keep user’s data safe, track device location to reduce theft and also limit every possibility of data leakage. The Tiaga phones which will be produced in China and handed over to the Russian company is expected to come with incredible features, specifications, and software that will stop every installed app from accessing the user’s information. Some of the features of the surveillance-proof smartphone include the following:
  • A built-in privacy features.
  • A 5.0” touchscreen
  • Two sim slots
  • Two Cameras.
  • The green body color to represent the northern Russian forest.
Already Taiga has its developed brand of mobile security software called “Taiga Mobile Security” which can be found online as a smartphone application. There are great possibilities that the new surveillance-proof smartphones will have the Tiaga Mobile Security to help track devices; the phone will also come in a modified Google Android OS. According to Taiga Systems’ website, Taiga security software is the first ever Russian system which offers full user protection against spyware, malicious software, and data loss. However, some people have also raised questions about the new surveillance proof smartphones, there are concerns about where the user data will end up, this is because the app sends information back to the company as regards the user’s location identification, list of contacts, installed apps, access to text messages, external storage access and so many more. All these are communicated back to the company from the device. Finally, the surveillance-proof smartphone is a significant development that is expected to increase cybersecurity and also reduce cybercrime. The success of this project will help improve all online activities against the consistent invasive surveillance tools employed by both governmental agencies and large corporations. Although Taiga has not yet confirmed the date of release, information available reveals that the smartphone is already in its last stage of production.
